Anti-racism programme at UEFA EURO 2008™
The Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) network is working closely with UEFA as a Football Social Responsibility partner at UEFA EURO 2008™ to send out a message against racism and discrimination, and to celebrate the diversity of Europe's best-loved sport. Building on the success in Portugal in 2004, the FARE network is preparing an anti-racism programme at UEFA EURO 2008™. The aim is to promote and convey the positive message of fighting discrimination in and outside the stadiums. FARE intends to engage fans, local populations and ethnic minorities through Streetkick tournaments, supporter gatherings and the distribution of fanzines. The semi-finals will be dedicated to the “Unite Against Racism” theme. In association with the FSI network FARE is also planning an extensive fan-hosting programme. Martin Kallen, UEFA EURO 2008 SA chief operating officer, said: „With the Unite Against Racism and Fan Embassies project we want to make sure fans feel welcome, while violence and racism emerge neither inside or outside the stadia."

FAN EMBASSIES
In summer 2008 many fans will visit Austria and Switzerland. Not all of them have tickets, not all of them can afford a first class hotel. Nevertheless we think it´s great that many will be coming. With the project fan embassies at the UEFA EURO 2008™. we want to offer services and support for fans.
Additionally we will produce printed fanguides for the tournament, including important information in the languages of all participating countries. Furthermore we will run fan embassies which are information points in all of the host cities. There you can make inquiries, get information or simply meet other fans.
Watch this space for the exact location of the fan embassies!
STREETKICK Outside the stadiums, the Streetkick game will tour the host cities with events in which fans and ethnic minority communities can take part. Materials including a FARE fanzine, leaflets in languages of all the qualified teams, T-shirts, a mobile exhibition and themed posters will be available there. A reception on the opening day of the tournament will launch the programme with representatives of UEFA, the UEFA EURO 2008™ organising committee, the European Commission, and the host countries in attendance.
MONITORING GAMES
To support this preventative work, FARE will use its expertise with a series of monitors at games. A multilingual hotline will be advertised alongside an email address to report racism and discrimination.

FANGUIDE 2008 HOMEPAGE
The official UEFA EURO 2008™ fans website was unveiled on 2 December. In keeping with the motto of the fans embassies ("for fans by fans"), the website has been designed by a supporter of longstanding Austrian club Wiener Sportklub. Content will be offered in the languages of all the competing nations.
Information on the host cities, including links to accommodation offerings, is up on the site. Soon there will be information on travelling to Switzerland and Austria as well getting around the two countries. Additional information on the formalities for entering Switzerland and Austria will also be included.
Key information on the individual host cities, such as tourism information, do's and don'ts in the two host nations, and stadium and tournament details will be added over the coming months.
There will also be a news section containing up-to-the-minute reports on fan hosting matters and the fans embassies at UEFA EURO 2008™.
Like the fans embassies, the website is part of the UEFA EURO 2008™ fan hosting programme being coordinated and run by FARE (Football Against Racism in Europe) and the FSI (Football Supporters International).
