Les Hijabeuses are leading the way in empowering Muslim women to play football and in the ongoing fight against Islamophobia in France.
The French Football Federation (FFF) banned women wearing the hijab while playing or being referees six years ago, despite FIFA voting in favour of the inclusion of headscarves.
This group, formed within Alliance Citoyenne, will lead a panel to discuss ways in which to put pressure on the FFF to change their intolerant rules, and hold a tournament with local teams to celebrate the inclusion of Muslim women within the sport.
They aim to enable women to fulfil their passion for playing football, and to inspire others in all areas of life where they feel discriminated against.
