[:en]International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia[:]

Every year, campaigners, activists and members of the LGBT community come together on 17 May to take a stand against homophobia and advocate for LGBT rights internationally.

In 2015 the focus of the international day is LGBTI youth, highlighting the right of people to grow up in safe and welcoming environments, where they can develop their personalities and talents respectfully of their individualities.

Fare and FvH IDAHOT grants

In sport, and football in particular, the fight for equal rights for the LGBT community has been given added drive in recent years.

In 2015, and for the first time, Fare and FvH launched a small grants scheme to further debates and promote action to challenge prejudice and exclusion against the LGBT community through football around IDAHOT.

The initiative aims to make existing football structures safe, welcoming and inclusive for LGBT people; create opportunities for LGBT people to engage with football; and improve the representation of LGBT people throughout football.

This year, Fare and FvH will award 20 small grants to European groups willing to address homophobia in and through football.

Get involved

The day is an open period and anyone can take action on discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people.

If you are planning activities around the topic this May, get in touch.
