The Romanian Football Federation has joined forces with the Fare members Policy Centre for Roma and Minorities and the country’s nacional council against discrimination to tackle discrimination in football and promote social inclusion through the practice of the sport.
The three organisations are running together a football tournament, named the Respect Diversity Cup, at the National Arena Bucharest, with over 56 children aged between 11-15, of marginalised communities. Current footballers, including FC Porto defender Cristian Săpunaru, Viitorul Constanța Nicolae Marius Dică, and former stars Sorin Ghionea and Petre Marin, will be part of the event.
An all stars match will also take place on the day.
