People United Day is an annual celebration of cultural diversity and multiculturalism. The Manchester based football club will host several events to mark the day and the Football People weeks.
An exhibition, workshops with over 200 local young people and a recreational session with coaches will address refugee involvement in football. On 29 October FC United of Manchester will host their first match between Survivors of Torture and United Glasgow. This will be followed by a Question and Answer discussion around hate crime and the importance of working in an inclusive manner to generate community cohesion among newly arrived refugees and asylum seekers.
