Anti-racism campaigners from across the FARE network will next month call for renewed action over what has been described as an ‘epidemic’ of racism in football across Europe. The call will come at a conference to be held by FARE in Bratislava, Slovakia, on the 8th and 9th April.
The conference will bring together more than 100 members of the network from every corner of the continent in an effort to co-ordinate and share good practice at a local level and keep up the pressure on the governing bodies of the game.
Alongside fans, NGO’s and campaigners, speakers at the conference will include Jan Figel, European Commissioner for Education, Culture & Multilingualism, William Gaillard, UEFA’s Director of Communications, and Dusan Tittel, General Secretary of the Slovak Football Association.
The conference forms part of the continuing work of the network and will also highlight the plight of the Roma people in Central and Eastern Europe and discuss other discriminations in football.
