Botswana to host conference on women and sport10 April 2017

TheInternationalWorkingGrouponWomenandSport(IWG),anetworkfocusedonempoweringwomenandadvancingsport,haveannouncedits7thworldconferencetotakeplacebetween17-20MayinGabone,Botswana.

The international gathering will be held under the theme “Determine the future, Be part of the Change” and will bring together 1200 delegates including international and national decision-makers in sport, such as members of the International and National Olympic Committees, international sport federations, the United Nations, Paralympics, NGOs as well as leading researchers, government officials, athletes and coaches.

The conference will feature six plenary sessions and side events that will cover various issues under the following topical sub themes: being well to play well; safe space: protecting women in sport; tell their story: leveraging media to advocate for women’s sport; welcome and empower all through sport; sport without borders: cross-cultural collaboration; let them lead: changing the leadership landscape of sport.

The IWG‘s World Conference comes every four years and is a platform of reflection that gives the world of women and sport an opportunity to discuss issues affecting them.

Registration will open on 1 May 2017.
