Call for experts in football, extremism and social media to join a 3-year project

Fare is looking to appoint experts in football, extremism and social media to join a steering group as part of a project funded by Google.

The project aims to address online hate speech leading to extremism and violence in football in the offline world. Through the development of an online monitoring tool and educational activities and materials, we aim to create a safer online environment for young people, to build resilience to radicalisation narratives around football online and offline and tackle the influence of far-right groups in football.

We are looking for experts across 10 European countries to be oparty of the project over 3 years, providing input and guidance on the:

  • Development of a software tool to monitor discrimination in football online and networks of the far-right in football
  • National-level data collection on hate speech and far-right groups in football online and offline
  • Data analysis produced by a software tool
  • Production of an educational manual on discrimination, far-right narratives in football and identifying signs of radicalisation

If you have expert knowledge of football, extremism and online spaces in one of the countries below and can contribute up to 30 days over 2 years on this project in 2021-2022, we want to hear from you. There is a fee for this work.

The countries covered by the project are: Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, United Kingdom.
