FARE/LICRA statement on the death of a Toulouse supporter in Belgrade05 October 2009

The International League against Racism and Anti-Semitism (LICRA) and Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) have learned with sorrow of the death of Brice Taton, victim of the barbarity of hooliganism, in Belgrade on Tuesday, 29 September.

We extend our sincerest condolences to his family and share their grief. Our thoughts also go out to Toulouse FC and the Indians supporters group.

It is a time for recollection.

This tragic event is a reminder of how necessary it is to protect lovers of the game and genuine fans to allow them to live out their passion in a safe and festive atmosphere.

Those responsible for this murder should quickly be brought to justice and punished with the greatest severity.

For their part, LICRA and the FARE network will continue to work with ever greater determination against the dictates of violence and racism in football.
