John Carew honoured with anti-racism award27 November 2005

Lyon forward and Norwegian international, John Carew, was recently honoured with a prestigious award, recognising his contribution to ridding the game of racism. He received the award from FARE partner, Show Racism the Red Card (Norway) at the Norwegian Player of the Year awards, hosted by the Norwegian Players Union.

Carew has been the main star of the campaign in Norway since its start in year 2000, always lending his name, autograph and photo to the work and also using his position to get massive media attention to the problem of racism in football.

Carew also won the prestigious “Player of the year” award but said to Norwegian newspapers that he was even more proud of the anti-racism award as racism is a problem in society and more important than football.
