Kenneth Holmes, 28, has been banned from all UK football matches for three years and fined after shouting racist abuse during a Millwall FC match against Leicester City on August 14. Holmes was convicted at Greenwich Magistrates' Court in London on August 18. Police superintendent Brian Pearce said he hoped the ban would serve as a deterrent to others.
Millwall head of security, Ken Chapman, said:
“No one wants racist abuse. Our own team represents the multi-cultural nature of the area. We have barred 21 people since 1997 for racist abuse. Other people talk about it, we actually do something about it.”
