Racist fan gets sent down22 January 2005

Stephen Marsh, 43, of Portsmouth UK, has been jailed for six months and banned from football matches for seven years after racially abusing his own side’s player. Shaka Hislop, Portsmouth’s goalie, received a torrent of abuse from Marsh and his 22-year-old son during their home game against Manchester United on 30 October 2004.

A fellow Portsmouth supporter, who was with 30 youngsters, was so disgusted by the abuse he confronted Marsh only to be threatened with violence. The Marsh pair were later arrested for racially aggravated public disorder and affray. His son, also Stephen Marsh, will be sentenced in February 2005.
