Saint Lucia Set to Host Major International Sport Conference

The Sacred Sports Foundation have announced a major new conference later this year as they play host to the ‘Sport in Black & White’ conference and youth forum which will bring together decision makers with local, regional and international experts to tackle many of the pressing issues in sport.

The forum, which will take place between June 9th and 23rd in St. Lucia, is in response to the need for a more structured Caribbean showcase of youth sports, it has been designated as the 3rd Sport and the Global South Conference by the Academy of International Sport, George Mason University.

The aim is to create an annual Caribbean forum for change, which fosters input directly from youth, policy makers, sports tourism stakeholders, sports men and women, educators and corporate interests.

The conference will provide detailed strategic advice and guidance on key issues relating to sport, its impact on social development and the business opportunities that can transform performance.

Sacred Sports Foundation is a not for profit charity and FARE member founded by trailblazer Keith Alexander who was a professional player and one of the first black coaches in British football before his death in 2010.

“Many of our young athletes and administrators enter the international sporting arena ill-equipped for the challenges ahead of them. The Conference will identify priorities with respect to key approaches to sporting performance and social development,” said Delroy Alexander, Foundation Chairman.

“It will provide critical guidance on sports policy, youth advocacy, elite performance, sport governance, gender, discrimination, injury prevention, fitness and nutrition.”
