Thiery Henry was subjected to racist abuse during Arsenal’s 4-0 win over PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League. PSV Eindhoven fans also bombarded him with coins whilst he was taking a corner.
This incident comes only days after Liverpool’s Emile Heskey suffered a similar fate against Valencia and Fulham’s Rufus Brevett and Steve Marlet received abuse from Hadjuk Split fans.
UEFA has announced investigations into the three incidents. UEFA have various measures at their disposal, ranging from a simple warning or through to fines and more severe action. They have the authority to order matches to be played behind closed doors, impose a stadium ban, annul a match result, deduct points and disqualify teams.
