Youth teams to meet in Vienna for 4th FairPlay Cup01 June 2006

Youth teams from across Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Germany and Slovakia are to meet in Vienna for the 4th FairPlay Cup.

The tournament, organised by FARE partner FairPlay and the Viennese club Favoritner AC will take place over Pentecost on 3-5 June 2006, under the motto: Kick Racism!

Patron of the event is the former Yugoslavian international Aco Trifunovic. For the first time there will be a youth team from a Roma club, FC Vranov from Slovakia. The club's players belong to the ethnic minority of Roma who still encounter problems with discrimination, as the Slovak FARE partner Ludia Proti Rasizmu often reports.

Other international teams come from Serbia & Montenegro (FK Smederevo, Olimpic Novi Sad, OFK Belgrad, FK Obilic Belgrad), Hungary (Haladás Szombathely) and Germany (Jahn Regensburg). From Austria, youth teams from Viennese amateur and migrant clubs will participate.

The 4th international Favoriten FairPlay Cup is funded by the municipality of Favoriten and is part of the UEFA funded anti-racism campaign of the FARE network.
